Overnight in Florence.

Day 2 - Friday, October 5th 2018 – Florence, Food Tour and Walking Tour Including Uffizi Gallery

Enjoy breakfast at the Hotel and get ready for this food tour together with your English speaking guide. The "Foodie Tour" will begin at the San Lorenzo Market where you’ll have a taste of Tuscany’s “green gold”, it’s renowned olive oil, as well as a variety of cheeses, salami and prosciutto, truffle sauces and balsamic vinegars. After, we’ll have a wine tasting where you will enjoy some of the region’s finest wines. Not full yet? Next stop will be at a local “fiaschetteria” where you will have a tasting of some of the city’s traditional recipes. The tour will finish with one of the finest gelato parlors in the city where you can pick your flavor made with genuine and fresh products.

After the tastings your guide will take you leisurely on a walking tour of the city including the visit at the Uffizi Gallery. The Gallery houses a superb collection of priceless art, originating in great part from the Medici family collection, enriched over the centuries by endowments, exchanges and donations, among which an important group of religious works stands out, resulting from the suppression of the monasteries and convents between the XVIII and XIX centuries. Here, you will find the richest collection in the world of works of the Tuscan school, Florentine in particular, among which: Cimabue, Michelangelo, Giotto, Leonardo da Vinci and Raffaello and  Sandro Botticelli.

At the end of the tour you will be free to enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Overnight in Florence.

Day 3 - Saturday, October 6th 2018 – Florence / Siena Guided Tour, Wine Tasting and Lunch

After breakfast meet your personal English speaking driver at the lobby of the hotel and reach Siena where you will meet your private English speaking guide and begin to discover the city on a pleasant and interesting walking tour, Siena is a city that dates back to the Etruscan period and later became a Roman colony at the time of Emporer Augustus and during this period went by the name Saena Iulia. While walking along the streets you will reach the Duomo (or Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta), a classic example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture, the Battistero di San Giovanni, and the historic Piazza del Campo with its unusual seashell form: it is here that the famous Palio di Siena takes place, every year from 2 July to 16 August. After the tour you will meet again your driver for a direct transfer to one of the most important wineries of the area.

First step of the visit will be the vineyard and the particular spiral vineyard garden that is capable of combining production with the aesthetics and tradition, has become an attraction for the "maniacs of the discovery". It is a harmonious succession of rows of vines arranged in a spiral circle, in an intermittent motion from an island in the central stone, as a vantage point to enjoy this spectacle of nature. After that you will have a visit to the cellar, where you will be able to admire and smell the typically wood barrels in which are preserved the tasty wines. At the end of this interesting tour you will have a wonderful lunch including the tasting of 10 wines and some products from this amazing farm. At the end of the tour, your driver will accompany you back to your hotel in Florence.

Pizza and Gelato cooking class - In the late afternoon you will participate to a wonderful experience! The chef will introduce you to the history of these Italian glorious creations!

Make pizza in the oven with our professional pizza chef, called pizzaiolo. You will learn how to make tender, flexible yeast dough that stretches to almost paper-thinness, even the trick for a flavorful yet light tomato sauce. Even if you bake pizza in your own oven, these techniques are universal and using them really makes a difference. With the pizzaiolo, you’ll make your very own pizza, you’ll stretch it, sauce it, bake it, slice it. It will be the best pizza you ever tasted, and you made it yourself! Come to make pizza in Florence!

After Pizza it’s time for Gelato! The chef will explain why gelato remains Italy’s favorite dessert while giving an insight to the ‘gelato culture’ that continues to grow. Through a demonstration, you will get to know the basic raw ingredients, how to select the best products available according to specific principles and you will have a presentation and tasting of some of the flavors used in gelato making. You will learn about the development and application of natural colors, the heating and freezing techniques and how they have different effects on ingredients. It is always a great day to discover the recipe of the world most loved dessert!

Day 4- Sunday, October 7th 2018 – Bologna, Food and Art tour

After breakfast and check out, you will meet your private English speaking driver at your hotel for a transfer to Bologna.

You will spend an unforgettable 3 hours with an expert guide walking around the medieval market district and visiting a variety of historical food shops, pastry shops and pasta laboratories for small tastings of Bologna’s most typical local produce. Tastings of chocolate & coffee, ham&cheese and local delicacies such as tortellini. Visits to monuments are not included, but on request, our guide on site can organize additional visits to local museums, churches or other cultural centers in the city.

After the tour, your guide will accompany you to visit the brand new Eataly of Bologna’s city center where you will have some free time at your leisure. If you love eating homemade pasta, brick-oven pizza and crostini and zeppoles that taste like they're straight out of an Italian nonna's kitchen–you're in luck. Eataly, Mario Bataly and Joe Bastianich's Italian dining and shopping Mecca, is openning a part entertainment, part 'edutainment' theme park in Bologna

After the tour you will meet again your private driver for a direct transfer to your hotel in Parma:  Sina Maria Luigia

Check in and free time at your leisure.

Overnight in Parma.

About Your Hotel:  Sina Maria Luigia (4 star) Located in the center of Parma, the Sina Maria Luigia is distinguished by its traditional and refined style, and is a place where attention to detail is synonymous with hospitality. Maxim’s restaurant serves the best local products of the region, skillfully reinterpreting them in a creative and original manner. The stylish L’Aiglon bar is a popular haunt for regulars who get together here to enjoy a cocktail.

Day 5 - Monday, October 8th 2018 – The Food Valley Gourmet Tour in the hills of Parma

After breakfast, meet your private English speaking driver  at the hotel and transfer to the green hills of Parma by luxury car, for a real gourmet experience : educational visits to the producers of DOP, Prosciutto di Parma, Vini dei Colli di Parma DOC, Balsamic Vinegar Tradizionale DOP, Culatello DOP.

8.45am Meet guide and start your visit to a traditional Parmigiano Reggiano cheese producer.

Visiting a "Caseificio" is like taking a step back in time. The "King of Cheeses" actually has very ancient origins, and today, like seven centuries ago, Parmigiano Reggiano is still made following the same traditional and genuine methods. Parmigiano Reggiano is simply made from local cows’ milk, heat, and the wisdom of the "cheese master’s" experienced hands…

10.45 am: Stop to take some pictures of the impressive Torrechiara Castle and surrounding area. This is undoubtedly the most spectacular and well-preserved castle in the province of Parma.

11.15 am: Visit a traditional Prosciutto di Parma producer in a hillside town.

Prosciutto di Parma is the other King of the Italian Food Valley. Here, top quality local fresh pork, coarse sea salt and the sweet briny air off the Ligurian Sea are the only ingredients. The ham is produced in Langhirano, a small foothill town in the southern part of the Parma province.

12.30 pm: Visit a local wine producer in the scenic hills of Parma, followed by lunch and local wine tasting including and an ample tasting of typical food and wines in the winery’s beautiful restaurant, overlooking the breathtaking DOC wine “Colli di Parma” vineyards and rolling hills.

2:30: After lunch, head on to the lowlands of Parma, on the opposite side of the province, to taste the most precious among the cured meats: Culatello di Zibello DOP.

You’ll admire the aging cellars dating back to the XII century where the “king of the cold cuts” Culatello di Zibello rests for years…Welcoming to a medieval court, also seat of a Michelin starred restaurant, and where people like Prince Charles of England and Prince Alberto of Monaco have discovered this “hidden secret”.

3.30 pm: a guide on site will let you visit the medieval cellars housing our prestigious Culatellos, with a final RICH tasting at the end. where you will enjoy a seated tasting in the castle with tastings of different ageings of Culatello, focaccia, dessert, coffee.

At the end of the tour your driver will accompany you back to your hotel In Parma.

Day 6 - Tuesday, October 9th 2018 – Bologna / Umbria olive oil tour and tasting / Rome

After breakfast and check out, meet your personal English speaking driver at the lobby of the hotel and reach the Umbria area.

Here you will have a tour with golf carts into the property where you can see the olive trees, with a knowledgeable guide who will introduce you the technique of the harvest and production.

This extra-virgin olive oil is obtained uniquely from olives harvested from the majestic trees which surround the Castle that are more than 200 years old. The "Centuries-old Trees" create a unique product derived from the ancient Umbrian indigenous varieties of which consists of (really rare by now): moraiolo, dolce agogia, frantoio, rosciola di panicale, rosciola umbra, limona, san felice, pocciolo, nostrale di rigali, borgiona and capolga umbra.

These varieties gift us with a unique emotion: The oil reveals itself to our sense of smell in a fruity yet vegetal way, rich of balsamic aromas that remind of mediterranean aromatic herbs and has a perfect balance in bitterness and spiciness, starting in a delicate way but then growing in determined and persistent.

At the end of the tour you will meet again your driver for a direct transfer to Società Agricola Berti, an educational Farm, where you will have a tour and tasting lunch as well as free time.
The Farm owners are friends of our host, Jackie Zach, and she can't wait for you to meet them.  The Berti family is always happy to welcome lovers of excellent food to take guided tours and participate in tastings of their delicious olive oil bruschetta, wines and other specialties.

After this your driver will accompany you to your hotel in Rome, the Hotel dei Mellini
